Film review: Wedding Crashers

The movie “Wedding Crashers” was published in the year 2005. It is an American comedy film directed by David Dobkin. The most important actors in the movie are Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Christopher Walken.

wedding 1 Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson play Jeremy Grey and John Beckwith, they are old buddies and womanizers who crash weddings and take advantage of the romantic atmosphere. They crash wedding parties to bed and seduce women, using different rules.

Each weekend the two men make a point of crashing wedding receptions, where they get free food and alcoholic drinks and try their luck with the bridesmaids. They invent various fake names and backgrounds, and then make themselves the stars of the wedding where they have invited themselves to. Near the beginning there is a montage showing the two womanizers at a lot of different weddings like Jewish, Indian, Italian and Irish. You can see different food, different dances, different costumes and also good looking women. Then there is another montage showing the same, or maybe it is more of the same montage. The viewer feels like he is drifting too far from shore. The viewer misses the plot to hang onto.936full-wedding-crashers-screenshot1

The highlight of the movie is that John and Jeremy decide to crash the wedding of Claire. She is the daughter of Treasury Secretary Cleary, played by Christopher Walken.

They got an invitation for one weekend to the family house to celebrate the wedding. During the weekend they play football with the family members, but it ends with Jeremy being hurt by an aggressive Sack (Bradley Cooper). That is the time when we become aware of Sack, Claire’s fiance, who tackles brutally. John falls in love with the pretty daughter, Claire (Rachel McAdams). Claire is different, she is funny and sarcastic.

In the movie exists some moments that are enjoyable and very funny. The two actors, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, are the funniest part in the movie and they help lifting the film. Wilson expected best in the movie. His character is easygoing and this makes him likeable.

All in all, “Wedding Crashers” is meant to be a hearted comedy about two men who first see women only as a spoil. Then suddenly, the film soon goes from a men-oriented comedy into a more female romantic comedy. The production people as the designers, costumers and musicians did a really good job. This movie is very glossy and funny!
