Save the date in your calendar! We Do! Weddings In Every Sense – a wedding fair at Porvoo Campus – is on Thursday, 15 May, 2014. We are a group of HAAGA-HELIA students taking part in a course called “Wedding Planning and Management”, and our project this semester is to arrange a one-day wedding fair at our campus. Visit us, get inspired and complete your wedding vendor selections. Instead of having traditional fair with lots of stands, we will create an unforgettable experience for the visitors, appealing to all the five senses. Admire our visual feast of unique flower decorations, view the fashion show with our fabulous models presenting gorgeous dresses, which were designed by professionals just for our event, see an exquisite jewellery, taste the wedding cakes, listen to multinational talented artists including Veijo Vänttinen, Linh Duong & Vy Nguyen, Alejandro Diaz Ortis, and Anna Alferova, check out quick hairstyling sessions, find a honeymoon destinations, and take part in a lottery. If that’s not enough, there’s so much more; you will find at our fair anything from tutorial on how to make a wedding invitation to a free-style football show, and that’s not all; we are constantly coming up with fresh ideas and we are busy planning and arranging new attractions to make your visit even more enjoyable. There are no entrance fees, so you can enjoy all of that for free!
Would you like to be a part of this event as an exhibitioner or sponsor? It’s not too late to join! Just let us know. You can contact us via e-mail , Facebook or Twitter. Our planned theme is Spring Fairytale Wedding; our palette includes subtle pink, fresh green, pastel-hued yellow and lilac.
Our group already has contacts to the media and we are actively getting as much media attention as possible. We are publishing a press release which will reach hundreds of HAAGA-HELIAs partners in media. We also advertise now the event in social media, such as on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and this blog. We will also live stream our event on Google+ to reach a wider audience. We are also negotiating Krista Siegfrieds’ performance.
The target group will be students and couples who are planning to get married. We are expecting over 500 visitors, so your company would have a wonderful opportunity to reach potential customers. We offer your company a unique experience, an eventful day with plenty of content, assistance on spot, beautiful venue on Porvoo Campus and professional photographer’s service. After the event you will get the photos which you are free to use for marketing purposes. Furthermore, if you are going to participate, we promise to write an article about your company here, at our blog. See you all at our fair!
Pearls – those tiny little but beautiful things. Since they are quite elegant, this theme helps you to get ideas around pearls.
As pearls may be considered old-fashioned jewellery, I thought that the ceremony could take place in Porvoo Cathedral. Porvoo Cathedral is an idyllic yet a historic church with a nice interior. For the reception I thought of Villa Haikko, this stylish insular villa. Villa Haikko is a part of Haikko Manor, which is also in Porvoo. Both places are light coloured and so are the pearls.
The wedding gown could have some lace on it or maybe even pearls. Pearls could also be hair decors and they could also be in the wedding bouquet. Wedding bouquet would also be white coloured. The groom would wear a dark grey suit with a white tie.
Invitations and decorations:
Invitations could be simple and decorated with pearls. Decorations are naturally based on pearls and white colour. In weddings small details are important.
Food and beverage:
The wedding could take place in the beginning of summer, when there are new potatoes in the market. There could also be served salmon. Generally the food would be light and fresh. The meal would be a three course meal, first there would be some fresh salad, then the main course and after that the dessert. Dessert could be parfaits and the traditional wedding cake could be decorated with pearls. Beverages would be different kinds of wines and the toast could be raised with champagne.
Flowers would be white, for example hydrangeas and roses. Flower bouquet could be entirely made of pearls or then it could be made out of white flowers and be decorated with pearls.
Music and entertainment:
Music would be some classical music, like Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Mozart.
The wedding couple could use some classic car from 50’s. It could give a little bit edge to the theme.

The wedding will take place in Porvoo and the ceremony will be in the church of Porvoo. After the ceremony the couple will be transported to Taidetehdas in horse carts. The wedding guests can move to Taidetehdas by their own car or by foot because the distance is not too long. The wedding reception will be hold at one of the halls of Taidetehdas.
The wedding outfits will be inspired by the renaissance era. The dresses will be big with large tail. The men will be wearing baggy pants. The outfits will be mainly made of velvet.
Food and the wedding cake
There will be served salads like chicken-avocado salad and salmon salad. The cake will be a strawberry cake with chocolate topping. It will be decorated with red roses.
There will be red wine, beer, soda and juice served at the wedding. The drinks are served in tin cups.
On the walls there will be hanging renaissance paintings like the Birth of Venus. The curtains and other fabrics covering the walls will be made of dark coloured velvet. There will be renaissance styled couches. The tables will made of dark wood and they will be very basics. The floral decorations will consist of roses and lilies. They will be made in metal vases.
Music and entertainment
The music will be renaissance styled music played by a live band. For entertainment there will renaissance dances that guests can dance in big groups.
