Roman Times -inspired Wedding

   The Roman times were a significant historic time period. This is also a theme that is commonly used for toga parties. Why not use this theme for a wedding?

                                  For the venue we chose a roman temple, which were made out of stone. The roman temple alone describes the time period very well. The venue would be decorated with gold objects such as vases and gold platters with fruits.

Wedding Attire :                    The bride would be wearing a white goddess dress and in her hair she would have gold jewellery and she would also have gold bracelets for accessories. The groom would have a toga that would be red either velour or cotton.

Food & Beverages               The romans didn’t have kitchens so it would only be logical to have whole animal rotating over the fire. The romans usually ate grilled meat and meat that was seasoned with lots of herbs. In the Roman times there was no knowledge of dessert so they mainly had fruits. Fruits would be the main dessert. As for beverages there would be wine and beer served as in the Roman times where they went to taverns and pubs to drink beer and wine to celebrate.

Wedding Cake                      If there had to be a cake we would suggest a “cake” that would be fruit piled and shaped in a form of a temple.

Floral Décor                          Floral décor would mainly consist of vines and grapes. Very minimalistic décor.

Music & Entertainment      Entertainment will be a roman inspired band with flutes and other instruments such as wooden instruments.

Transportation                     The romans travelled a lot on horseback so the transportation would be best on horseback.

A Tarzan and Jane -inspired wedding

We were inspired by the movie Tarzan, which is also a love story. It is also quite easy to build a beautiful wedding around this theme. The main elements that help create this theme are exotic plants and flowers, tropical heat and a foreign destination.

Venue                               

     The destination should be in relation with the theme. We thought it had to be something warm and exotic. The destination we chose was  Hawaii. This wedding is an outside wedding. The actual ceremony would ideally be held at the beach and the reception in a tent that is in the proximity of the beach and the jungle.

Wedding Attire            

  The bride is wearing a long, white cotton dress. It still holds the elements of elegancy and the traditional image of the bride but it is still relaxed as is the atmosphere of the wedding. The bride will wear her hair open and curled, with wild flower decorations in her hair. The groom will be wearing a beige linen suit, with a thin white collar shirt. The groom will also wear a corsage made out of the same flowers as the bride’s hair decorations. With these materials, the couple won’t be disturbed by the heat.

Food & Beverages      

The welcome drink will be a Peach Bellini. At the reception, the beverages offered will be jungle themed blended drinks, made out of fresh fruits and rum, for example Pina Colada, Mohito etc. The food will be a buffet styled table, focusing on cold and fresh dishes, such as salads, fruits and smoked fish. There will also be barbeque food, such as chicken and seafood.

Wedding Cake                  

 The cake will be in the shape of a pineapple. Its main ingredients are rum, cream and pineapple. On top of the cake, the traditional wedding couple figure will be replaced with a figure of Tarzan and Jane.

 Floral:

 The bride’s bouquet will be made out of exotic wild flowers, such as orchids and green leaves. At the altar there will be a floral arch with mainly green leaves and some coloured flowers. There will also be a couple lianas hanging from the arch. The guests’  will be seated in white wooden chairs with floral decorations in the last chairs of the rows. These floral decorations will also mainly focus on orchids. The centre pieces at the reception will be see-through bowls with orchid flowers floating on water.

Music & Entertainment     

The music will focus on Hawaiian music, with instruments such as ukulele, djembe drums, maracas etc. There will be a special performance from a Hawaiian tribe. The song for the first dance of the couple will be Phil Collins – You’ll be in my heart.

 The couple will leave the ceremony with an elephant into the sunset.

Fifties Wedding

Reception

The reception will take place outside. It could be in Porvoo and the surroundings will look like a car movie scenery on an open field. There will be red, black and white ribbons and different-colored flowers.

Also, the chairs of the dining tables could be bar stools like they had them in the early 50’s.  There will be a tent to protect the guest from the wheather conditions. Old 50s style cars will create a vintage atmosphere for the venue. The decoration could be red, black and white: Vinyls, old cars and dice.

Transportation

The bride will arrive on a Vespa, an old scooter, which was very trendy in the 50s. The couple will leave, after the ceremony with a red chevy chevrolet, a typical 50s car.

Attire

The wedding dress will be ivory, classic with lace and a petty coat. The bride will wear matching white shoes, or possibly leather shows to match the style. The hair and make up will be inspired by the 50s-look with big waves and strong red lipstick. The groom will wear a black suit with a white shirt, braces and also a grey gilet underneath.

 Catering

Lunch could be a picnic buffet. It will contain Hawaii Toasts and decorated finger food, which was typical for that time as a party snack. Guests will be seated on blankets and pillows on the grass the blankets will have an isolation against the cold and wet grass.

Throughout the day, extravagantly-designed cupcakes will be available for the wedding guests. The dinner will be a seated dinner with different meal options. There will also be punch and white wine. Retro cocktails will serve as a colorful eyecatcher. Additionally, there will be a three-layered red, black and white wedding cake.

Entertainment

The waiters could wear matching attire and roller skates to top off the assesories for the theme. A live-band will play 1950s songs. These will contain artists such as Elvis Presley, Luis Amstrong, Edit Piaf, Eddy Barclay, Chuck Berry.

Geoccaching engagement

What geocaching is
A GPS device and a road book are part of the Geocaching accessories. The coordinates for the first cache are given by the host. After arriving there, some questions have to be answered or a riddle has to be solved to be able to count the coordinates for the next cache. The GPS device gives participants always the direction and distance to the next cache. If all caches were found, participants have arrived safely at the final destination.

Who?
Everybody can do geocaching. The GPS equipment is easy to use and that is all you need to know.

When?
Geocaching is an all year around outside activity.
Remember: there is no bad weather, just bad clothes.

Where?
Since every place has coordinates, geocaching can be adapted to any place; in the city, the countryside or in the middle of the forest.

Why?
Geocaching is modern and trendy, the couple is having fun while doing something together and the day will be unforgetable after the perfect surprise in form of a proposal.

An actual proposal idea

Rainer booked a Geocaching city tour through Nürnberg for him, his girlfriend Mandy and some friends.

Mandy just moved to Nürnberg to live with Rainer and therefore she still doesn‘t know the city so well and since this is like a sightseeing tour with a difference, she won’t become suspicious.

The “usual” Geocahing-tour is done in teams as a competition. The coordinates for the first cache are given by the host. If all caches were found, participants arrive at the final destination and the winning team gets a price.

This tour will end a bit different:
The last but one destination of the Geocaching tour for Mandy and Rainer will be her favourite jewelry shop, where he will give her solemnly the engagement ring.
After she said „YES“ they will meet their friends in the final destination of the tour – a nice restaurant – to celebrate the engagement.

Autumn Wedding

Autumn gives great possibilities when considering the colour scheme and atmosphere of the wedding. We wanted to create a cosy, warm and intimate wedding with beautiful colours.  The wedding will be held in the mid-September when the weather will still be quite warm but the autumn colours will be showing in the trees and nature as well. The colour scheme of the wedding will represent the bright autumn colours such as yellow, orange, red and golden. Both the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception will be held in the beautiful location of the Vanajanlinna castle in city of Hämeenlinna, Finland. The venue provides a good foundation for the cosy and warm autumn wedding.

Wedding attire:

The bride will have a simple, traditional white wedding gown. In order to have our theme shown in the gown we would add the autumn colours in bride’s hair with beautiful hair jewellery. The bride’s jewellery would be golden to bring the theme colours together. The groom will have the colour scheme shown in his outfit with some orange colour spots for example the tie and the handkerchief.

Menu:

We wish to show the autumn theme in the food and beverages served in the wedding. As a welcoming drink we will have champagne to toast with. For appetizers we will serve salmon, mushrooms, salad, cabbage rolls, onion pie and more. The appetizers will be served from a buffet table. Dinner will be reindeer stew with mashed potatoes, which represents the Finnish traditions and the autumn season as well. The cake will be a rich dark-chocolate cake with cloudberry filling inside to combine the theme together. In addition, the cake would be decorated with cloudberries.

Table decor:

In the dining hall we will have round tables with hooded chairs. The chairs will be hooded with orange fabrics and there will be a golden scarf tied around the chair to make the look more festive. The tables will be decorated with orange and yellow flowers, maple leaves and orange candles. All the decorations on the table will be set on top of a piece of mirror. We will use the colour gold in the decoration as well.

The Native American Wedding

Venue

Wedding takes place in Forest Grove, Washington County in United States. Both the ceremony and reception are outside in Forest Grove -hill in garden. Native American wedding will be in summer.

Wedding attire

The bride is wearing a traditional Native American dress. The dress is natural white and it has a brown belt on the waist. The bride has brown sandals with feathers on them. Bride’s hair is curly and she has a brown hairband. She is wearing a lot of colourful jewellery and a bright red lipstick. Groom’s outfit is also traditional Native American. He is wearing a brown shirt, pants and boots.

Food

There is one big grill in wedding and many things to grill. There are lots of fruits, vegetables and meat.

Beverage and wedding cake

There is a winery and wine tasting in Forest Grove so beverages are white and red wine and a toast to start with. Wedding cake is natural white with red and black decorations.

Floral décor

Flowers in the wedding are all kinds of wild flowers. There are also long feathers as a decoration.

Music and entertainment

One of the couple’s friend plays acoustic guitar while the bride walks down the aisle and also in the wedding reception as a background music. There are few dancers dancing a “tribe dance” in the wedding reception. Wine tasting is also part of the program in reception.

Transportation

Guests take care of their own transportation to the wedding venue in Forest Grove. Wedding ceremony and reception are both in the same place, so the couple and guest don’t have to move anywhere after the ceremony.

50´s Wedding

The wedding ceremony is held in Turku Finland in the beautiful Ruissalo botanical garden.  The outdoors location is by one of the beautiful ponds of the park. As two main colors we chose to use white and red. There will be white, 50’s style outdoor tents on the venue and a flower decorated arch for the ceremony. The chairs will be hooded with white fabric with bright red chiffon bow ties on the backside. There will be waiters serving champagne for the quests before the ceremony starts dressed according the 50’s theme.

The wedding reception is held in newly renovated restaurant Pinella, which is located in the heart of Turku, next to the Turku Cathedral. This beautiful wooden building is perfect venue for the 50’s themed wedding. The quests will be taken to the reception with authentic 50’s cars, which are rented form a local collector. The venue will be decorated with the same colors of red and white. As flowers, there will be white and red centerpieces for each table with white table cloths. As name tags for the tables, there will be small miniature 50’s cars holding the cards. There will be a 50’s style band entertaining the quests with 50’s music, such as Bobby Darin, Etta James and The Dixiecups.

The menu is a served dinner. For the starters a collection of 50’s style finger foods is served while the quests mingle before the toast. As the main course, the quests can choose between fillet stake served with seasonal vegetables and mushroom sauce. The wedding cake is a traditionally shaped chocolate cake with white icing, decorated with red lace-like decorations.  In addition, there will be a cocktail bar with a bartender dressed according to the theme, serving famous 50’s drinks such as martinis.

The Bride will wear an elegant 50’s styled white, over the knee, wedding dress with red high heels. The hair will be curled and she will have a hat with lace decorations on. According to the theme, bright red lips will complete the style. The groom will wear a tuxedo, black patent leather shoes and red tie and handkerchief to match the color themes.

Hawaiian Wedding

Venue

Vanajanlinna, Harviala

Wedding ceremony will be held outside by the lake. Seats for the guests will be brought outside and the aisle will lead to the altar. The dinner will be held in Juhlapaviljoni, The Festive Pavilion.

Wedding attire

The bride will have a simple “flowy” white dress without too many details. The groom will wear a cream colour suit.

Food & Beverage

There will catering to take care of everything. The dinner will be a barbeque with exotic fruits and drinks. Drinks will be mainly made from pineapple and coconuts. It will be an open bar for the guests. The wedding cake will be a traditional white layer-cake with Hawaiian flower.

Décor

Lots of Hawaiian flowers in different colours will be used in the venue and in the altar. There will also be peddles of flowers on the aisle. Palm leaves will also be used to bring out Hawaiian look.

 

Music and entertainment

When the guests arrive, they will be greeted with leis as welcoming gesture. There will be dancers performing the traditional Hawaiian dance called Hula Hula and Hawaiian music will be played in the background.

Transportation

The guests will take care of their own transportation to Vanajanlinna. During the wedding there is no transportation needed from the ceremony to the reception.

And more…

Gifts for the guests will be cookies wrapped in palm leaves by the Honolulu cookie company.  After the wedding the guests will stay in a hotel in the venue. There will be a wedding brunch the next morning.  The waiters will be wearing Hawaiian shirts.

Winter Wedding

The wedding theme is based on a particular season. The season which is chosen is winter.

The ideal venue is a church which is decorated like a forest in winter. There are white painted tree branches on the sides of the path to the altar. On the ground of the path is fake snow. The light is blue and purple to create a cozy atmosphere.

The wedding attire for the bride and groom is also referring to winter.

The bride wears a white and long wedding dress with a white coat. She has a tiara with white diamonds in her hair. Her bouquet consists of only with flowers. The groom wears a grey suit. The color grey reflects the wintertime perfectly. The tie is dark grey.

 

The couple goes with a hackney from the church to the event location where the party starts with an aperitif. It is a winter cocktail which consists of strawberry and vanilla syrup and alcohol. During the whole Party the guests can order: water, milkshakes, cocktails with cinnamon, prosecco, sparkling wine and nonalcoholic drinks.

The guests and the couple eat a menu which consists of five courses.

Menu:

Crispy Langoustine with Spiced Roasted Red Pepper Sauce

Ebony and Ivory Soup, 1/2 Black Bean Soup and 1/2 Roasted Shallot Soup

Bacon and Eggs: Baby Greens Tossed with Sherry Vinaigrette Garnished with Tomato, Emmenthaler Cheese, Old Smokehouse Pecan Smoked Bacon, Poached Eggs and Croutons

Garlic and Herb Roast Leg of Lamb with White Bean, Kale and Tomato Ragu with Penne Topped with Mint Pesto

Carmelized Banana and Mascarpone Crepes with Strawberry Sauce

The decoration is adapted to the theme winter. The colors are white and silver. There are also white painted tree branches and fake snow on the ground. The nameplates on the table are small silver snowflakes. On the table are many candles and on the chairs are pieces of white pelt to make the chair comfortable.

At the entrance there is an arch of white flowers and on the table there are also white flowers sprayed with silver color.

The wedding cake is a sculpture of different cupcakes with white decoration and silver snowflakes on the top.

To underline the atmosphere there will be a piano player playing different songs and after he finished there will be normal music.

The wedding cake will be presented after the menu with fireworks in light colors.

The couple leaves the party with the hackney and goes home.

Summer wedding on the beach!

     

Ideal venue

The ideal venue for this type of wedding is in the beach.

The wedding could take place in an island, like Hawaii, Caribbean, Tahiti, Dominican Republic, or in Greece, in French Riviera, Monaco, St Tropez… Each destination with a beach access could be chosen.

For this concept, the wedding will takes place in June, in a beach near to Bonifacio in Corsica. As wedding destinations, the isle of beauty is perfect for your beach themed wedding. White sand beaches, cristal warm water, hidden creeks, floral vegetation …You will find it all in Corsica. It is an exotic and exclusive destination just for the two of you.

Wedding attire for the bride and groom

The wedding dress could be white or ivory and light and flying. The groom costume will be in grey or clear brown. The bridesmaid dresses could be colorful, in coral or turquoise for example.

       

Food

The food could be hot or cold and exotic or more traditional. For this concept, I chose a buffet wedding with fresh salads, cold soups like gazpacho, melon or watermelon and tropical fruits, seafood plate (scallops, lobsters, crab, prawn…).

Appetizers can be passed during the cocktail hour. For a beach wedding, delicious appetizers include: Sushi, Shrimp cocktail, Mini crab cakes, Fresh tropical fruit, Iced oysters, Crab or shrimp stuffed mushrooms, Coconut shrimp, Sun-dried tomato bread, Key lime popcorn chicken.

Beverages and wedding cakes

The wedding cake will be blue and white decorated by shell and starfish in sugar or white chocolate.

        

For beverage, a cocktail bar will be settled (margaritas, pina-coladas, granite cocktails…), water and white wine will be available on tables. Champagne will be served during the cocktail hour with appetizers.

The floral decor

The venue will be decorated by white flowers. Some red flowers petals could be disposed on the way to go to the altar.

 

Music and entertainment

For this wedding, a DJ will carry out the musical animation and will play some lounge music. Guests will prepare some speeches for the brides.

Transportation

The bride will arrive by riding a horse to the ceremony and the couple will leave by boat at the end.
