Autumn Wedding Theme

Venue            

The wedding ceremony takes place in the church of Mikkeli and the wedding reception in Kyyhkylä which is situated about 30 minutes boat trip from the centre of Mikkeli. The guests will be transported to Kyyhkylä by boat m/s Jaarli and the trip will cost about 280 euros.

In Kyyhkylä there is an old barn where the wedding reception takes place. When all the tables are set and there is an area left for dancing the barn have room for 80 guests. Accommodation is also offered to the guests in the mansion of Kyyhkylä.

Wedding attire

The bride’s dress will be burgundy and the groom will be wearing a black or navy blue suit. Bride’s hair will be in loose bun with some golden accessory on the top of the bun. Her nails will be also burgundy but one nail in both hands will have golden nail polish. Otherwise the bride’s accessories like earrings and bracelets will be very modest golden jewels. The bridesmaids will be wearing dresses of autumn colours such as dark orange, brown, red and mustard yellow. The groomsmen will be wearing a navy blue suit with red ties.

Food and the wedding cake

 The food served at the wedding benefits from the harvest’s root vegetable. There will be roasted vegetables, potato salad and pumpkin soup for example. There will also be sandwich cake with autumn inspired topping. The wedding cake will have a coffee flavour with a taste of orange. It will be decorated with brown stripes and leaves made of marzipan together with chocolate candies.

Beverage

Alcohol that is served at the wedding will be both white and red wine. Then there will also be berry juice, soda and water for children and those who don’t drink alcohol. With the cake coffee and tea will be served.

Decoration   

There will be a lot of candles most of them in glass vases which are decorated by desiccated leaves and golden string. The wedding bouquet will be made of red and orange coloured gerberas and lilies. Other floral decorations will be dark coloured roses set in a square vase made of glass.

The tables will be covered by white tablecloths and there will be some of these candle and floral decorations on the tables. The chairs will be white and made of wood. The name tags for the guests at the tables will be made of desiccated leaves where the name is written with white marker. Tables will be long, maybe for 14-16 persons and they will be set at the sides of the barn. That way there will be a free area in the middle of the barn left for dancing.

At the entrance of the barn there will be a big white curtain which is fastened to one side of the entrance. If necessary the curtain can be unfastened so that it would cover the entrance and act like a door. The lightning at the barn will be peaceful and not too bright. From the roof the will be hanging white round paper lights.

Music and entertainment

There will be a live band playing on a stage. The music will be energetic and great for dancing. For entertainment there will be speeches given by the friends and the robbery of the bride. The bride will robbed by the friends of the groom and the groom has to fulfil a hope or something in order to get the bride back. He might have to write a poem to the bride or make a song to get her back.

The Autumn Wedding

The ideal venue (church, castle, beach etc.) 

The wedding ceremony takes place in the old Petäjävesi church. The church is ideal for autumn weddings because it is in the nature and there is a river at the back of the church. So the scenario is very beautiful with all the autumn colors. The church is very old and beautiful wooden church and it is one of the World’s heritages sites in Finland. The wedding reception is nearby in this old barn in the countryside.

   

 

Wedding attire for the bride and groom

The bride’s dress is classical and elegant. The color of the dress is off-white and it is lace. Wedding shoes are elegant and classical, off-white pumps. Bride’s hairdo is also classical and putted up. Makeup is natural and fresh. Jewellery is quite elegant and not so fancy or posh. Groom’s suit is black and it includes a hat.

 

Food

Food in the wedding is healthy home-like food. There is Karjalanpaisti (traditional Finnish stew), potatoes, green salad and rye bread.

 

Beverage and wedding cakes

With food there is home beer, juice, milk and water. Beer, cider and wines are also served if wanted. With cake there is coffee and tea. The wedding cake is decorated autumn-like and the filling in the cake is strawberries and whipped cream.

 

The floral décor

Flowers used in decoration are roses and some smaller flowers but mainly roses. The colors of the flowers are orange, red and other autumn colors. The flowers are used in everywhere; in the altar, on the church floor, on the tables and chairs etc. The bride’s banquet and groom’s flower in the jacket pocket are both also made of roses that are autumn colors. There is also candles used in decoration and they are in autumn colors. Also berries and autumn leaves are part of the decoration.

 

Music and entertainment

Music is the main entertainment and there is a band playing in the wedding. They play Finnish ‘iskelmä’ and some classics. Other entertainment is speeches by the wedding couple, friends and family. There are also some traditional wedding habits like throwing of the banquet and stealing the bride.

 

Transportation to and from the ceremony to the reception

Transportation of the wedding couple is made by black and stylish car and by old church boat. The guests are transferring by their own transportation forms. The Bride and the groom are going to the ceremony by their own rides but leaving together by church boat to the wedding reception.

Rustic Wedding

The rustic wedding is mainly based on nature and vintage patterns. It could take place on a farm or in an old barn on the country side or if the weather allows on a free field.

The colors of the rustic wedding could either be pastel or autumn colors like brown, bright orange, red and yellow. This will also be reflected in attire, decorations and food.

 Transportation

The transportation medium will be an old truck. In order to make sure the bride’s make-up and hair will not suffer from the wind, it will drive very slowly. As an additional benefit, the couple can enjoy the scenery and great the passing pedestrians. In case of bad weather, there will be a closed back-up car.

Attire

The bride’s dress can have any desired shape. However, it will be rather straight than voluminous. It should have a crème tone. The plain shape and color gives room for filigree details and playful extras. The groom will wear a suit in a brown or grey tone and can also add extra accessories like boutonnieres or a pocket watch. The bridesmaids will have matching dresses in one of the theme colors. As an additional eye-catcher, they can wear matching brown leather boots or hats.

Decorations

The decorations will contain many flowers and bright colors, as well as wooden signposts. An extra element, which will be carried through the whole wedding, will be Mason Jars.

These are usually used to conserve food. However, they also make a rustic decorative element.

Filled with flowers and deco-sand, they make a good decoration for the aisle, as well as the dining tables. Moreover, they can be filled with little gifts or snacks as a nice gesture for the guests. Additionally, they can be used for dessert or as drinking glasses for cocktails. Filled with red cherries or almonds, they look nice and complete the rustic image of the wedding.

Catering

The food will contain hearty culinary delights and fresh oven-baked bread. The multi-layered wedding cake will also reflect the theme in its colors and decorations.

Entertainment

During the reception, live and acoustic music will be performed and guests will be animated to dance until dawn.

Autumn Wedding

Fall is a great time of year to have a wedding. The temperature is great, venues and photographers will be easier to book and the season offers a natural beauty that can only be created by our one and only Mother Nature.

 The venue

There are a lot of amazing place to do a beautiful wedding with the autumn theme.

One of the ideal venues is in a castle during the period of mid-September to late October. This castle is located in Blantyre in Lenox, Massachusetts.

This country property, comprised of a main house, a carriage house, and four cottages, feels like something straight out of the pages of a Jane Austen novel—all 22 guest bedrooms are uniquely decorated with cosy details like overstuffed chairs, fresh flowers, fireplaces, and four-post beds. It’s also a great place to do a hot-air balloon ride over the mountains. Hold a wedding on the property’s lawn, where the ivy along the side of the Main House turns a vivid scarlet during the fall.

                     

  Wedding attire for the bride and groom

When choosing a wedding dress for the fall season, it is always essential to choose colours or styles that best incorporate the season. A dress that flows naturally or provides a great accent of golden tones; or a simple sash is the best way to go. Also colours such as purple, light pink, champagne and ivory are great compliments for a bride on her special day, which creates a feeling of warmth that is often associated with autumn.

Concerning the groom, he will wear a black suit with a white shirt and tie or off-white. In addition he will have an orange boutonniere.

Flower girls can carry furry hand muffs with coordinating ribbons that match the bride’s bouquet.

                         

 Food and beverage

There are a lot of great menu for an autumn wedding. For our concept we have chosen this menu:

First course:

Roasted Red Pepper Bisque with Cilantro Crème Fraiche

 

Second course:

Petite Hearts of Romaine with Shaved Parmigiano,

Toasted Focaccia Croutons and Zesty Citrus Dressing

Entrée:

Cabernet Filet Mignon

With Truffled Potatoes and California Baby Vegetables

Or

Grilled Salmon over Lemon Dill

With Wilted Spinach and Tomato Coulis

Or

Quinoa with Tempeh over Roasted Asparagus

Dessert:

Wedding Cake

Moreover, it will have some side dish and cocktails like:

–          Caramel Apples

Treat guests to the quintessential fall indulgence — caramel apples.

–          Soy Candles

Soy candles in shades of burnt orange, yellow, or brown. It’s possible to double as place cards, or pack it into pretty boxes that match the colour palette.

–          Autumnal-Shaped Chocolates

Chocolate is always a favourite favour so consider chocolates in the shapes of maple leaves and acorns. It’s nice to display them in individual boxes at each place setting or on trays near the dessert table.

–          Mini Maple Syrup Bottles

Few things represent the fall season better than maple syrup. An idea is to give mini maple syrup bottles to the guests as a sweet thank-you.

–          Apple Cider Mix

Packets of apple cider mix are perfect for welcome baskets and reception favors alike.

–          Hunter’s Cocktail

–          Fresh Candied Pecans

–          Warm pecans coated in brown sugar can satisfied the guest.

About the wedding cake, it will be white with autumn flowers decorated on the cake.

                            

  Floral decoration

In autumn there are  a lot of flowers like Acashia, Allium, Alstromeria, Amaranthus, Anemone, Baby’s Breath, Bittersweet, Carnation, China berry, Chrysanthemum, Cockscomb, Cosmos, Echinops, Freesia, Gerbera Daisy, Gladiolus, Hypericum, Iris, Juniper, Kangaroo paw, Kalancheo, Liatrus, Lily, Asiatic, Lily, Gloriosa, Misty Blue, Orchid, Pepper berry, Protea, Queen Ann’s Lace, Quince, Rover, Roses, Rowen berry, Salvia, Solidago, Statice, Star of Bethlehem, Sunflower, Yarrow, Zinnia.

That’s why we have a lot of opportunies for the floral decoration. For example, the Wedding centrepiece can be constituted by cymbidium orchids, nigella, scabiosa, artichokes, rosemary, croc fern, myrtle, bush ivy, and Japanese plum by Blossom and Branch.

Another possibility for the wedding centrepiece is constituted by heirloom pumpkins, poppy pods, scabiosa pods, lisianthuses, succulents, dusty miller, broomcorn, reindeer moss, and amaranthus by Love ‘n Fresh Flowers.

                              

 Music and entertainment

About the music, it will have some famous song related to the autumn theme like :

–          Autumn Leaves – Frank Sinatra

Morever, a violonist will play some romantics songs!

Then, to encourage guests to dance, we will assign each table a love song, when the violonist plays that song that table should get up to dance. They will aslo try to caricaturist to do caricatures of their guests.

Transportation

For the transportation we have chosen  a 1955 Bentley S1 Wedding Limousine. It’s an original and romantic way of transport and it’s related with the epoque of the castle where takes place the wedding.
