Simple but elegant jewellery

Au3 Goldsmith is another partner at our We Do! Wedding fair 2015 on the 15th of May at Haaga-Helia Pasila campus. Au3 Goldsmith is a Finnish jewellery company in the heart of Helsinki. It is the only shop in Finland and was established in Spring 2011. Their studio is located in Alppila where all the jewellery is crafted. Their work concentrates on good quality and perfectly cut stones. They aim to find the best materials because they want their materials to match their work effort put into the making of the jewellery.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit the shop and have a short interview with Jussi Louesalmi one of the talented goldsmith’s in Au3 Goldmsith. Jussi Louesalmi is a goldsmith graduate of class 1994. He is married and has two children. I asked Jussi where he gets inspiration from and a couple of the things he mentioned was that he enjoys looking at graphic designs and nature for inspiration. He is fond of the ‘simple but elegant’ type of jewellery. He believes that even in the simplest craft, if there is something unique, it can still create a WOW factor. He also says that creating such jewellery can be very challenging at times because one has to take into consideration the practicality aspect especially wedding rings which are worn everyday. Creating a jewellery piece which is perfect for everyday use can be challenging when people have various tastes.

I had two main questions for Jussi related to the following topics: 1. The design & inspiration of the jewellery 2. Materials used to craft the jewellery. Au3 Goldmsith has six very talented goldsmiths. One of them, Tero Hannonen, in fact had won an award in 2008 for creating the year’s most beautiful ring which he named “Ornamentti”. Another popular design is a unique piece called “Lilja”. The use a variation of precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum in the making of these elegant pieces. They do custom made jewellery and they aim to create the exact design the customer wishes to have.

Wedding Theme: The Great Gatsby

Introduction:

Every event should have a common thread. To build this one in a wedding it should have a theme witch attend the whole event. The theme for the following wedding is The Great Gatsby. The Great Gatsby is a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and takes place in 1922. The fashion in the twenties is scarred by lots of pearl necklaces, feather boas, headbands and pixie cuts. The music is dominated by Jazz and Swing bands.

The ideal venue:

The Bloomsbury Ballroom is located within the Victoria House in London. The room is kept in the style of 1920 thereby the location brings along the perfect requirements for a Great Gatsby wedding. The location can be used for celebration and also for the ceremony of the wedding. Thus spares a transportation for the whole wedding party from one place to another. The Ballroom disposes a stage where the planned entertainment can be held. By the use of round table dining the room can capture 300 guests.

Wedding attire:

Bride:

The bride can choose a dress in white or champagne-colored. To mirror the Gatsby style the dress should have elements of gold and black. The accessory consists of a lot of jewelry including pearls and headgear. The make-up can be in suspension of gold and black to reflect segments of the dress. The hair should be pinned-up to match the twenties. The hairstyle can also be with curls or water waves.

Groom:

The groom’s suit should be adjusted to the dress of the bride. This means if the dress has elements of black and gold the suit should have them too. The suit could be black or dark blue. Colors of the dress can be absorbed like the examples in the pictures below. Long tie or bow tie is optional appropriate to the preferences of the groom.

Food and beverage:

To the cake should be coffee and tea served. During the dinner there can be every think from wine over soft drinks to champagne. After the dinner special cocktails from the 1920’s can be offered.

During the champagne reception can some finger food be served.

The food should a large facet of dishes for the different kind of tastes of the guests. For example something for the vegetarian and also meat and fish.

The wedding cake can be a combination of black, white and gold, like the picture below. It could also be more related to the Great Gatsby movie with recognizable symbols and pattern and some pearls and feathers.

The decoration can be featured in black, white and gold. This is mainly reflected in the table decoration. A strong symbol of the Gatsby time is also the feather. They should be included in the decoration. Even some pearls can be used for the decoration.

Music and entertainment:

At the beginning of the celebration during a champagne reception a DJs play some music from the jazz genre. That can be old classics and also jazz remixes of the latest charts. After the dinner has been served and finished a Jazz band can relieves the DJ, this can also be done later. When the band starts the bridal couple will do their wedding dance and after they are finished the whole wedding party can join them.

During the breaks of the band Burlesque or Charleston dancer can entertain the wedding guest and this breaks offer also space for speeches. After the band ended it is the DJs turn again.

A photo booth can be prepares so the wedding party can take photos of themselves and get the chance to save their own memories of the event.

Wedding Theme: Gold & White

With the combination of gold and white you can never go wrong. Using these colours on your wedding decoration is an easy way to create a classy and glamorous atmosphere to your wedding.

Invitations

Invitations are simple, but the colours of the theme white and gold are used. The gold envelope and the little golden details give the receiver an idea what the theme is going to be on the wedding day.

Venue and decoration

It doesn’t matter where the wedding is held, it’s possible to create gold & white setting almost anywhere. The wedding can also be held inside or outside… The basic colour of the decoration is white, but there is  a lot of golden details.

Wedding attire

The bride is wearing a white dress and she’s having gold accessories. The shoes, jewellery and flowerbouqet are gold. In her hair she has a golden hairpiece. There is also used gold shades in her make-up and nails.

The groom is wearing a white or black tuxedo. He wears a gold vest and a tie and his shoes are gold as well.

The bestmen are wearing suits and gold accessories…

…and the bridesmaids and the flower girls are wearing gold dresses.

Food and cake

The food is traditional but there is a lot of golden sparkle added on the wedding cake and other desserts.

Transportation

Just married couple rides to the reception on a white limo which is decorated using gold details.

Gifts for the bridesmaids and bestmen

All the bridesmaids are going to get a customized bracelet with their own name on it…golden of course. The bestmen are going to get gold tie clips. These are small but very useful gifts for these important persons!

Other fun ideas

There are disposable cameras on the tables so every guest can be a photographer. These photos will be a great memory after the wedding!

When the couple is departing from the ceremony, instead of throwing rice at the couple the guests are blowing soap bubbles.

A little gift for every guest… there is going to be a little box of candy wrapped in gold paper on the table by everyone’s seat.

Fall wedding theme

The wedding gets the inspiration from fall. The main colors are brow, gold and deep orange. The venue decoration will be soft, warm and detailed with used materials from nature. In addition the venue will be a little bit rustic, warm and cozy. This wedding fits for the couple who wants warm atmosphere with candles, dark colors and likes fall of course. Both the ceremony and reception is held in the same place.

Options: Vanha Viilatehdas (Vantaa), Agroksenmäen holvikellari and Taulun kartano (Kankainen near to Jyväskylä).

   

The bride will wear a white A-line dress with sleeves. The outfit includes gold colored heels and a bouquet of mixed fall color flowers. The hair will be in loose bun with a hairpiece and make up quite soft with red lipstick. The bridesmaids wear deep orange dresses and brown colored heels. Their hair is open, curly and they have same kind of bouquets than the bride but only smaller. The groom will wear a brown suit with white dress shirt and orange tie. He has also the orange colored boutonniere.

   

The food will be as local as possible and also made by season raw materials. A three course supper is served to the tables. The starter is mushroom soup with bread and the main course moose steak with potatoes, season vegetables and red wine sauce. There is also vegetarian choice for the main course. The dessert will be the only one which is not served to tables but there will be a dessert table including wedding cake, pralines, orange and brown macarons.  The beverages are also served to tables; red/white wine, beer and homemade apple juice.

  

The wedding day includes also some program. There will be a live band playing relaxed music during the supper and later on the evening some dance music. The bridesmaids have planned funny games for the wedding couple plus there will be wedding couple’s first dance, cutting the wedding cake and the high point which is stand-up comedy show. The show will be also surprise for the couple. After the evening the wedding couple leaves to spend their wedding night.

Luxurious and elegant wedding

We all want to create something new by being inspired of some certain elements in our lives. For me the inspiration to this theme came from the love to my favorite team: Boston Bruins. The black and gold has been their colors since they started in 1920’s.

When I started to study more about the color combination of black and gold, I saw how perfectly they fit together to create a luxurious feeling.

In general, black and gold make you feel wealthy and when it comes to wedding, we all want to feel like being royalty for that one special day.

The Venue

When choosing a venue for the black and gold wedding,bthe main point is to be able to create black and gold effects. A good example where you can arrange black and gold weddings is the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fountains in front of the Hotel with the lights, will create a black and gold effect during the beautiful evening.

As wedding decorations you can use golden candles, black chair covers with golden ribbons, white flowers in black and gold vases and some lighting to create a night sky look.

Catering and Music

The catering in weddings usually a buffet, which leave the couple a great choice of what they want to offer for the guests. The main reason for buffet is also the possibilities of guests having different allergies and food orientation.

Wedding Theme: Disney Princess

This wedding theme is made for brides who want to be real princesses on their wedding day. The wedding is inspired by Disney princess movies. The wedding is held on summer and both ceremony and reception is held in a castle. The ceremony is held on the yard depending on weather and the reception is inside the castle. The colors of pastel pink, white, gold and silver are used in the whole picture of the wedding. The bride will arrive to the venue with white horse drawn carriage- pumpkin shape style.

The bride wears a ball gown dress and the color is white or ivory. The accessories will include colors of pink and gold. The bride will wear tiara, diamond jewelries and pink diamond shoes. The hair will be open and curly or up with bun. The bouquet is made of pastel pink and white peonies and roses with diamond details. The bridesmaids will wear dresses themed by Disney princess movies, for example Snow white or Belle. Their bouquets are made of the same flowers as bride’s but in smaller size.  Their hair will be up and curly. The groom will wear classic black or white tailcoat with white and silver details. The outfit includes peony corsage, tie and fine black leather shoes.

                  

The ceiling of the reception area is covered with white fabric which drops down smoothly. There will be many chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The tables will be round and chairs covered with fine fabric and bows. The centerpiece is made of the same flowers as bouquets and there will be petals, gold and diamonds too.  The wedding couple has majestic chairs and own area. The food will be served in tables. The appetizer will be a mix of cocktail pieces, the main course is French style steak and dessert a princess or castle style cake. The cake will include lots of details: ruffles, lace, diamonds, roses and sparkle. On the top of the cake there will be golden figure based on Disney theme.

     

The entertainment is based on music, there will be a small band playing jazz and later a famous DJ. The bridesmaids have made a princess theme show.  Finally there will be a big, great fire work show in the end. The guests will arrive to the venue with their own cars. No transportation is needed because everything happens in the same place.  The castle is playing a major role in this wedding theme.
